Pets Have D Cards, Too!
I said last week that Memorial Day was about more than one day sales and beach passes, but the holiday weekend is a great time to relax. In my case, I caught up on back issues of People Magazine. In an issue from the beginning of May, I found a story about a miniature dachshund named Sparky who is deaf. Sparky has become the mascot of the Missouri School for the Deaf, where the children all love him and speak to him in a way he can understand. He learned to sit, stay, and lie down using sign language. It’s no secret that I have a huge soft spot for animals, so I decided to look into finding pets with disabilities.
